KATE MONROE: “As well as being a highly respected figure in industry circles… Kate (Monroe) has developed an immense and devoted fanbase. And it’s not hard to see why.” For more than ten years, Kate Monroe has been at the forefront of dance music in Australia and around the world. Her floor filling style is famous, so much so that those with an ear for dance music could pick Monroe’s special blend of sassy, sultry, sexy, spanking house music blindfolded. Now, after being at the top of her game behind the decks for more than a decade, Kate Monroe is proving she is much more than just a DJ. Having compiled Cd’s for Sony, Shock, and numerous other independent labels Kate has decided to concentrate her taste making abilities onto her own record label, MAT Recordings, and taking it to the world with an international touring schedule. Kate’s wicked sets have rocked clubs from coast to coast in Australia as well as the well known big parties such as DTPM Sydney, Queer Nation, Homosexual, Harbour Party, Mardi Gras, Sleaze Ball, Resolution, Toy Box @ Luna Park, Big Queer Nation, and all of the Queer Nation parties in Sydney as well as a long list of dance parties off shore in Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Kuala Lumpur and the USA. Kate is also called upon to support international DJ legends when they tour, including Sandy Rivera, Derrick Carter, Bob Sinclar, Manny Leman, Masters at Work, Jose Padilla, Victor Calderone, Cj Bolland, Erick Morillo and Groove Junkies. BRANDON O'DONNELL: Brandon O’Donnell is a Sydney based musician and producer. As a professional bass player Brandon has performed in many musical situations from jazz to funk to rock and even Hungarian Polka’s, however his musical heart is firmly rooted in jazz, funk and soul with inspirations such as jazz legends Ray Brown and Christian McBride to the early Motown players such as James Jamieson. Brandon was fortunate enough to procure three international performance contracts in the Middle East over an 18 month period. During this time he experienced playing experimental improvised dance tunes with his trio incorporating guest musicians, percussionists, vocalists and djs. It was this experience that sparked his interest in dance music and was further fuelled by constant exposure to latest soulful and electro house releases from both Europe and the USA. Brandon also had the privilege of meeting international dj producers including Albert Cabrera (who he still keeps in contact with). Upon returning to Australia Brandon began work continuing his new found passion for the dance genre by forming a band of musicians who played the latest commercial house releases live and uninterrupted (as a dj would play). As exhausting as this was the band gained respect and recognition for their efforts and unique approach to performing this style in a predominantly rock market. Brandon took this passion one step further and formed a jazz quartet to extend his musicianship and performance skills. This move introduced Brandon to some of Sydney’s finest musicians whose skills were of such high caliber that it forced Brandon to improve his own. Keen to pursue his own compositions Brandon begun working on producing his own music which, as expected, incorporated all the styles, genres and influences that lead him to this point: jazz, funk, soul, dance and house with a focus on bass lines, melody and strong beats.
